Seeing Brazil Thru Their Eyes

These two beautiful lil ladies were the highlight of my Monday evening. Both received glasses from the  Joao Pessoa  Rotary Club.  This program is called Eye of the Future. These girls live in poverty. The presentation of their glasses was a huge honor to both of them. The public school system has a 10% graduation rate. If children are motivated to attend they may need to wake up as early as 4am. Transportation and availability is just a few of the problems with the system. I hope this evening is the beginning of their journey to becoming successful young ladies.

  1. Amazing what we take for granted here in the US! What beautiful little girls, so glad you were able to influence them and share in the presentation of their new glasses!

  2. Hi Leslie. For what I can see, you are having a complete view of Brazil. You are not seeing only the good thing, but the sad part too.
And this is what set me thinking a lot. The difference between poor and rich people is our biggest problem. Education is the main reason for that.
I guess the politicians want to keep it the way it is.
I hope you enjoy Recife and the rest of your stay.
And don't forget! Whenever you want to return to Brazil, just let us know.
